Authenticity of the story that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم allowed Nasara of Najran to pray inside his Masjid

What is the authenticity of the report that prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم allowed the Nasara of Najran to pray their prayer inside Prophet’s Mosque ?

Answer :

This story was reported in Tafseer Ibn Katheer,  in the tafseer of verse from Al Imran – 63. This was reported from Ibn Ishaq.

I have asked our Shaykh Yusuf Al Lahji about the authenticity of this narration in Tafseer Ibn Katheer. He said that the narration needs to be verified in two aspects. The narrators between Ibn Katheer and Ibn Ishaq and from Ibn Ishaq and Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). The narration in Tafseer Ibn Katheer is not enough to establish the story and need more research.

There is no proof in this story (even if it is authenticated) to have love or friendship with Kuffar as it was answered earlier in the following post:
