Hijra – Children – Homeschooling
Question:
O Shaykh of ours, may Allah bless you.
A person here in Belgium is asking concerning two types of schools where he is.
The first is a Catholic school which focuses on teaching Christianity in every faculty of teaching, and from the age of two and half the children study in this method of teaching alongside taking part in their celebrations.
The Muslims direct their children to this type of school due to the excellence of teaching and curriculum.
The second type of school is a public school whose curriculum does not submit to the church, and their approach is freedom in ideology. The majority of them are atheists and their slogan is freedom in religion and disbelief. The Muslims study Islam for two hours every week, briefly, in the manner the government wishes.
Which of the two schools do you advise with?
The situation is as such that we are not able to make Hijra yet.
May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
Disbelief is of different depths, and those that take a religion are lesser in harm than those with no religion.
This being said it’s not permissible to enrol the Muslim children in these two schools, both of them are immensely evil.
It’s an obligation to hasten to perform Hijra, and if there was a legislated excuse in delaying it, and teaching the children was stipulated in those countries, then perhaps distance education (homeschooling) could be looked at, where the parents would teach their children and educate them.
If this was not possible then they can send their children to their Muslim countries, and put someone in charge of looking after them until they are able to make Hijra.
And success is granted by Allah.
