Naming One’s Child After Places

Question:

Is it permissable for the Muslim to name his children after names of places like Hajj and Arfah or Muzdalifah or Minā?

Answer:

What is the intent by Hajj? Is the intent that people make Hajj to her? This is a pillar, however Arafah is the name of a place, Minā is the name of a place so therefore there is no problem with this. As for naming the child and saying, “this is Hajj” or “Salāh” or “Siyām” or “Zakāt” then this should not be done.

And Allah knows best.
