Prophet Dawuud ﷺ & Metalworking

Question:

What’s the interpretation of the statement of the Most High regarding His Prophet Dawuud:

(وَأَلَنَّا لَهُ ٱلْحَدِيدَ)

“And We made the iron soft for him.”
[As-Saba:10]

Was he able to mold metal without using fire to soften it beforehand?

Answer:

This is what has come from the Salaf in regards to the interpretation of the verse.

It has come from Al-Hassan, Qatāda, Al-A’mash and other than them that:

“He didn’t have to enter metal into fire nor beat it with a hammer, rather he would curl it with his hands like a string.”
