Studying in a branch of a free-mixing University

Question:

O Shaykh we have a Salafi brother who is studying engineering in a university, and the branch that he is in hasn’t got any intermingling of the sexes, but it is found in the other branches in that university.

Is there any blame casted on this brother for studying this subject in a setting which doesn’t contain free-mixing?

Benefit us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:

Even if there wasn’t any free-mixing in the department that he is studying in, it is still found in the university, at its entrance and on its campus and the likes; so this is a free-mixing university thus impermissible to study in it.

Except if the branch was disconnected from the others, in regards to its entrance and its campus and the likes.

Then it’s permissible to study there if the affair was to be like that.

And Allah knows best.
