Does touching your private nullify your Wudhū?

Question:

If a person touched his private without intent, for example when drying himself after a shower, would this nullify his Wudhū?

Answer:

The people of knowledge differed concerning the nullification of the Wudhū in regards to those that touched their private part without a barrier.

That which appears to be more correct is that it’s not obligatory to perform the Wudhū, combining and reconciling with this the evidences.

➖So the evidences commanding performing the Wudhū when having done so, meaning the Hadīth of Busrah:

(من مس ذكره فليتوضأ)

“Whoever touches his private part, let them perform Wudhū”

[Reported by the five, Albaani/Sahih]

Is understood to mean it’s Mustahab (preferred).

➖As for the Hadeeth of Talq:

(إنما هو بضعة منك)

“It’s merely a part of you”

[Reported by the five, Albani/Sahih]

It’s understood as a negation of obligation.

With this the evidences come together and there is reconciliation, and all of the evidences are acted upon.
