Conditions for a place to be established as a masjid

Question 359:

What are the conditions for a place to be  established as a masjid.

Answer:

The Shaykh says “The masjid has to be set aside as Waqf (which means endowed for the sake of Allaah). A place is not established as a masjid until it is made waqf. In case there is a need of extension it can be added and will be considered as part of the masjid.

There are ahkam with regards to the masjid from the angle of establishing the salawat, giving it reverence befitting the masjid, to establish iqaamatu-s-salaat, calling out to the prayer (azan) and so forth.”
