Praying the Tahiyatul-Masjid in the courtyard of the Masjid

Question:

There is a masjid which has an area for lessons for men and women to memorise the Qur’ān in its courtyard, if we go there do we have to pray the Tahiyatul-Masjid?

Answer:

If this area as mentioned in the question, was in the courtyard of the masjid outside the area which is prepared for the prayer, then there is no Tahiyatul-Masjid.

Except if the Masjid became crowded due to attendees to the prayer, or Jumu’ah for example, to extent that the people required to pray in the courtyard, in this case the courtyard would be following (the ruling of) the masjid.

And in the Fiqhi principle:

That which follows, follows.

Meaning it also follows it in ruling, so the two units are then prayed in the courtyard.
