Allaah said: “Who is one who swears upon me that I won’t forgive so and so? Indeed I have forgiven him, and nullified your deeds.”

Chapter: What has come concerning swearing oaths by Allaah.

On the authority of Jundub bin Abdillaah may Allaah be pleased with him, he said: “The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: “A man said: “By Allaah, Allaah will not forgive so and so, so Allaah said: “Who is one who swears upon me that I won’t forgive so and so? Indeed I have forgiven him, and nullified your deeds.” [Reported by Muslim]

And in the Hadith of Abi Hurairah: “He spoke with speech that destroyed his worldly life and afterlife.”

In it are Masaa’il (topics):

The First: Warning from swearing upon Allaah.

The Second: It being that the Fire is closer to one of us than the strap of his sandals.

The Third: That Jannah is like so.

The Fourth: In it is a Shaahid (supporting narration) in his statement: “Indeed a man will speak with a word….” until the end.

The Fifth: That a man could be forgiven because of something being one of the most hated things to Him (Allaah).
