Is it allowed for the child who hasn’t reached puberty to be appointed (to perform Hajj) on behalf of the deceased?

Question:

Is it allowed for the child who hasn’t reached puberty to be appointed (to perform Hajj) on behalf of the deceased?

Answer:

The child who performs Hajj for himself is unaccepted as the obligatory Hajj, without any differing between the people of knowledge.

As for the Hadith Ibn Abbaas that women found the Prophet ﷺ so she raised it and said: “O Messenger of Allaah, is there Hajj upon this one?” He said: “Na’am, and there is reward for you.”

So the proof that there is Hajj for him i.e. the reward is recorded for him Insha’Allah, and it will be from the means of his success, but it doesn’t suffice from the obligatory Hajj.

So just as it doesn’t suffice for his own obligatory Hajj, then he doesn’t perform obligatory Hajj on behalf of others, it takes more precedence that it doesn’t suffice for him to perform obligatory Hajj on behalf of others.

And indeed the majority of the Fuqahaa relayed this statement, Na’am, there is no differing that the Hajj of the child who cannot distinguish is not accepted.

So long as Hajj is not accepted for himself, it doesn’t suffice for the obligatory Hajj, then it doesn’t suffice for others, Na’am. Even if he reaches the age of distinction.
