The ruling on greeting with the New Hijri Year
Question:
What’s the ruling on greeting with the New Hijri Year?
Answer:
There is no evidence for it that they used to greet with the New Year, they used to greet with righteous actions, greet for Ramadhaan, as for the New Hijri Year then Allah knows best what a person will be commencing upon.
A person makes du’aa to Allah to make all his time good, and make his year a good year, and his day a good day as has come in the du’aas, the best of this day and the best of that which is in it and after it, I seek refuge with you from the evil of this day and the evil of what is after it, yes.
So what takes precedence is to say the likes of this, (ask) for the good of this year and the good of what is after it.
