Wedding Customs where Men and Women come Together

Question:

It is from our custom that on the wedding night when the groom brings his bride to his house and they are next to each other, the women of the village gather together, those who are prohibited for him to marry and those who it is permissible for him to marry whilst yodeling and whistling with their mouths for close to 5 minutes then they leave. What is the ruling on this gathering?

Answer:

This gathering is not permissible because it includes women that are permissible for him to marry and maybe beautifying and temptation could occur. Also what is the need for this, if it was only the bride other than the groom then there is no problem with the women greeting her, as for the groom and the bride gathering then this is a mistake and should not be approved of rather it is obligatory that it be rebuked.
