Following congregation prayer from house

Question :

If I am not able to go to masjid but I can hear the salaat from the house .can i follow that jama’at from home?

Note : I do not have the ability to go to the masjid, due to health issues?

Answer :

Shaykh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned in that case he cannot follow the Jamaa’ah (Congregational prayer) because the lines of the Jamaa’ah aren’t connected to him , whereas in the time of the sahaabah they could hear the athaan and the salaat from their homes yet it wasn’t narrated from not even one of them that they followed the jamaah from their homes and Allah knows best.
