The Ruling on Women Praying in Jamaa’ah (congregation)

Question:

What is the ruling on women praying in jamaa’ah (congregation)?

Answer:

It is permissible for them to pray in jamaa’ah, whether it is an obligatory (prayer) or (optional prayer) qiyaamul-layl. All of this is permissible, and there’s nothing to prevent from it. However, does the fadl¹ (superiority/excellence) which is mentioned (in the ahadeeth) regarding the congregational prayer include them? – What is apparent is that it also includes them.

And Allah knows best.

¹ Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “Salat in congregation is twenty-seven times more meritorious than a Salat performed individually.”
