Is it permissible for the student of knowledge to give fatwa in issues connected to the deen?
Answer :
It is for the student of knowledge to give a fatwa in that issue in which he has knowledge, in which he’s been asked about. As for the case in which he has no knowledge concerning that which he’s being asked about, it is not allowed for him to embark upon that which he has no knowledge in. Rather he only mentions the statements of the people of knowledge, and he refers the people to them. The Shaykh says this should suffice.
