The Mu’rid & The Mu’ānid

Question:

May Allah grant you success.

How do we deal with the Mu’rid (rejectors) of those with innovations, meaning those that strive in the way of the Shaytān regardless of him being from the lay folk of the people of innovations and other than him.

How do we call them to the truth?

And do we sit with them to advise them?

Answer:

The ˹Mu’rid˺, is he who rejects listening to the evidences, in regards to his falsehood, when he is called to the truth with its evidences.

The ˹Mu’ānid˺ (stubborn & persistent), is he who has come across the evidences of the truth and deviates from it.
Allah, the Most High, said:

“Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? ¤
As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys.”
[Al-Muddhaththir:49-50]

And He, the Mighty and Majestic, said:

“And never came an Ayah from among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it.”
[Yaseen:46]

And the Most High, said:

“But those who disbelieve turn away from that whereof they are warned.”
[Ahqaf:3]

And He, may He be Exalted, said:

“And when they are called to Allah (i.e. His Words, the Quran) and His Messenger (ﷺ), to judge between them, lo! a party of them refuse (to come) and turn away.”
[An-Nūr:48]

Allah, the Most High, has clarified how the Mu’rid is dealt with, saying:

“Therefore withdraw (O Muhammad ﷺ) from him who turns away from Our Reminder (this Quran) and desires nothing but the life of this world.”

So whoever turns away, is turned away from.

And in the two “Sahihs” on the authority of Abu Waaqid Al-Laythi, may Allah be pleased with him, said:

That the Prophet ﷺ said:

“The other turned away, so Allah turned away from him.”
[Bukhari & Muslim]

The ruling in regards to the Mu’rid is in that which he is turning away from.
It could be an absolute turning away or a partial turning away, each one has it’s ruling.

The turning away from the Tawhīd of Allah, the Most High, is disbelief.
And the turning away from looking into the evidences of Ahlussunnah on the deviation of the people of Tahazzub (bigoted partisanship) and Innovation, casts a person into the realm of the people of innovation and desires, and its possible his affair could end in exiting the realm of the people of Islām, each situation is ruled accordingly.
