The Daʿwah In Bangladesh And Clarification On The State Of Usāmah ʿAtāyah“And this brother sends salāms to you: Abū Sumayyah Muṭīʿ ar-Raḥmān, from the land of Bangladesh.
Question :
The Daʿwah In Bangladesh And Clarification On The State Of Usāmah ʿAtāyah“And this brother sends salāms to you: Abū Sumayyah Muṭīʿ ar-Raḥmān, from the land of Bangladesh.
Answer :
Bangladesh…which that crooked, backwards man, Usāmah ʿAṭāyā, visited.
Some brothers informed me that they were repelled by him, and he has nothing to talk about except al-Ḥajūrī, even in Bangladesh.
Wallāhi al-ʿAẓeem, I heard him myself, I heard his audio: al-Ḥajūrī, al-Ḥajūrī. He has nothing to talk about except al-Ḥajūrī, al-Ḥajūrī.
In any land Usāmah the criminal enters, he has nothing to talk about except al-Ḥajūrī.
And this is how these wicked, oppressive people are, as though there is nothing in the world except al-Ḥajūrī.
Lā ilāha illā Allāh. O people, why is it that this man is so stuck in your throats?
Some of them were almost about to become leaders, they were about to rise and become the apparent figure, then suddenly al-Ḥajūrī comes along. [So they said:] “When did al-Ḥajūrī come? We are older than him. We are such-and-such…”.
They could not swallow it.
My brother, this is the bounty of Allāh; He gives it to whom He wills.
[As the poem says:]
They envied the young man when they could not reach his level,
and people are enemies and envious toward him.
[Poem end.]
True, wallāh, they envied the man.
The bounty of Allāh, He gives it to whom He wills. Do not envy anyone.
Hide what is inside yourself.
You were unable to hide what was inside yourselves. Your envy appeared on your tongues, and your transgression appeared in your actions and your words, though perhaps you tried not to show it.
The shaykh was not harmed by any of that, and [Allāh, Exalted is He, says:]
“They will not harm you except for [some] annoyance” [Āl ʿImrān: 111].
By Allāh, he [Ash-Shaykh Yaḥyā] does not care about Usāmah or anyone else.
The shaykh is sometimes in knowledge, sometimes in ḥajj and ʿumrah. He does not stop from ḥajj or ʿumrah.
And where are you? Where are you even?
Where are you in terms of iʿrāb? What is your grammatical position?
All of you are parenthetical clauses, and that is the truth.
Most of you are parenthetical sentences with no place in iʿrāb.
And the shaykh is sometimes in ḥajj, and sometimes in ʿumrah.
To Allāh belongs the marvel of your state, O shaykh. Wallāh, to Allāh belongs the marvel of your state.
May this worship be wholesome for you. This is something Allāh made easy for you.
And the bounty of Allāh, He gives it to whom He wills.
Muḥammad bnu ʿAbd al-Wahhāb, may Allāh have mercy on him, while near death, tried to retract, we ask Allāh for wellbeing. He used to say: “Look at this Ḥajūrī. He cannot go out for ḥajj or ʿumrah. Allāh has deprived him. Allāh has punished him”.
O people, what kind of gloating is this?
[He says:] “Allāh punished him, so he could not perform ḥajj or ʿumrah”. Then al-Ḥajūrī performs ḥajj and ʿumrah every year. And you, where are you?
[Anyway,] This Usāmah is forsaken [by Allāh]. He has nothing nothing to say except al-Ḥajūrī, al-Ḥajūrī.
And also, according to him, if he warned against al-Ḥajūrī, then the Salafī daʿwah has been established throughout the world!
Wallāhi, warning against al-Ḥajūrī is not sound, and it is not in the interests of the Salafī daʿwah, if you really call to the Salafī daʿwah and love the Salafī daʿwah as you claim.
For it is not in the interests of the Salafī daʿwah to warn against a Salafī scholar.
Wallāhi al-ʿAẓeem, no one rejoices at this except the people of desires.
Warning against a Salafī scholar is not in the interests of the Salafī daʿwah.
And this has become known in reality.
You threw the daʿwah into confusion in Sudan, in Yemen, and especially in the lands of the non-Arabs.
Poor people, utterly confused, scattered in every direction. They became divided.
And you, Usāmah, and those like you, will bear this on the Day of Resurrection.
You made the non-Arabs delve into one another and speak against one another.
Poor people, many of them, except those whom Allāh showed mercy.
You find some of them now, that is all they have of the manhaj: “What is the ruling on so-and-so? He is ḥizbī. So-and-so is such-and-such. So-and-so is such-and-such”.
“O shaykh, what is the condition of so-and-so? O shaykh, what is your view of so-and-so? O shaykh…”
This is the religion [for them](1)
Yes, wallāh, O brothers, poor people.
And this Usāmah, a poor man, instead of teaching them, poor people, instead of teaching them tawḥīd, teaching them good, sitting with them, and leaving fitan and agitation against the Salafīs, he has nothing except this.
Wherever Usāmah settles, speech against ash-shaykh Yaḥyā settles.
And wherever these wicked oppressors settle, agitation against the shaykh and against the Salafī daʿwah in Yemen settles with them.
But alḥamdulillāh, and to Allāh belongs all praise, they have not harmed us at all.
Our daʿwah has crossed the bridge, O Usāmah. Yes, Wallāh.
And when water reaches two qullahs (large jars) – and we, in shāʾ Allāh, are more than that – it does not carry impurity.
Neither you will harm him with this speech of yours, nor is anyone else going to harm him with this speech.
Yes, wallāh, the daʿwah won’t be harmed, and to Allāh belongs all praise.
The Euphrates was never harmed one day because a dog came and urinated in it.
Excellent, [O student].
So is the Euphrates harmed by a dog?
And we are not harmed by this criminal. We are not harmed by him.
Pay attention, O Usāmah. Pay attention.
By Allāh, your condition is like the condition of that dog which urinates in the Euphrates.
The Euphrates was never harmed one day because a dog came and urinated in it.
And the Salafī daʿwah is not harmed by you, nor by those like you.
You gathered against us before you became divided, and you did not harm us at all.
So how about now, when you are divided? You will not harm us, all the more so.
You gathered against us, your elders and your youngsters, all your students, your people from Fayūsh and others, your people from Maʿbar, and you did not harm us, and to Allāh belongs all praise.
So how about now, when you are scattered like the people of Sabaʾ? You will not harm it.
This is the daʿwah of Allāh, O brothers.
Whoever dreams that he can harm it is only a poor soul exhausting himself.
Wallāh, he is exhausting himself.
This daʿwah, and to Allāh belongs all praise, is not harmed.
We are certain that this is the Path. This is what brings us near to Allāh, and reality is the best witness.
And we ask Allāh, Exalted is He, to bring harmony between Ahl as-Sunnah, to unite their word, and to prevent dispute, mutual hostility, severing, boycotting, and speaking against one another from taking place among them, our enemies rejoice at that, our daʿwah is weakened by it, and our strength departs through it.
“and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart;”.
Allāh says so. He says: “and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient”
And He says: “until [the time] when you lost courage and fell to disputing about the order [given by the Prophet] and disobeyed after He had shown you that which you love”.
Allāh has shown us the strength of the daʿwah, O Ahl as-Sunnah. Pay attention not to weaken it through dispute, such that failure comes after He showed you what you love.
And even though the āyah has its context, weakness and the loss of good do occur because of dispute, and failure occurs, and all of that good goes away after Allāh has shown us strength, goodness, and other things from the daʿwah by which we rejoiced.
So, O brothers, let us be patient with one another.
Yes, errors are clarified, there is no issue with that, but with proper manner, with goodness, and with love for the one being advised, so that he leaves this agitation, because it is not in his interest, nor in the interest of the Salafī daʿwah.
But expelling him from Salafiyyah, saying he is not Salafī, saying he is such-and-such and such-and-such, this is not right, and it does not serve the daʿwah at all.
These are personal motives. That is all.
There is nothing more to it.
As for clarifying the error, there is no issue with clarifying the error.
And if it is done privately, that is the original course. That is better.
But if something has become widespread, and harm is feared from it, then one clarifies it. There is no issue.
The scholars are used to refuting one another.
But as for expelling someone from Salafiyyah, that is not easy. That is not easy.
And harsh, abrasive speech is not easy.
All of this is personal motives.
They have personal motives – we ask Allāh for wellbeing and safety – except those whom Allāh showed mercy.
So this is what we suffer from.
As for Usāmah, no, no. Do not pay him any attention, by Allāh. He is nothing but like a fly.
[As the poem says:]
Am I to drive away a fly every time it buzzes?
Then the fly, to me, would be noble indeed.
[Poem end].
Usāmah is like this.
True, wallāh. Like a fly. Just shoo him away, and he moves off.
Someone sent me a clip of Usāmah while he was in Bangladesh, speaking about al-Ḥajūrī. He has nothing to speak about except al-Ḥajūrī.
O people, teach the people!
Our shaykh, Yāsir al-ʿAdanī, may Allāh preserve him, said: I was in Aden, and I passed by in my car, and one of these agitators was speaking in a masjid: “al-Ḥajūrī, al-Ḥajūrī, al-Ḥajūrī”.
I came back again[, and still]: “al-Ḥajūrī, al-Ḥajūrī”.
These are their morning and evening athkār.
[The shaykh laughs.]
True. These people’s remembrance of Allāh is: “al-Ḥajūrī””.
O people, what is wrong with you? We only mention you in passing.
We ask Allāh for wellbeing and safety.
We stop here.
Glory be to You, O Allāh, and with Your praise. There is no god except You. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You.”
