Ruling on saying: ‘Oh Allah, Forgive me if you want’

From the commentary on the Book of Tawheed by Shaykhul-Islaam Muhammad bin Abdil-Wahhaab may Allaah have mercy on him,121st, Lesson.
Chapter the statement: Allaahumma (O Allaah!) Forgive me if you want.
In the Saheeh on the authority of Abi Hurairah: That the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: “Let not one of you say Allaahumma (O Allaah!) Forgive me if you want, Allaahumma (O Allaah!) Have mercy of me if you want, let him be determined when asking, for indeed none can force Allaah”,
And with Muslim: “And let him increase his aspirations for verily there is nothing which He gives which is too heavy upon Him.”

The First: The prohibition of making exceptions in du’aa.
The Second: Clarifying the reason for that.
The Third: His statement: “Let him be determined when asking”
