Is it permissible for the one appointed for Hajj on behalf of someone to break his promise and seek pardon
Question:
Whoever promised another person that he will perform Hajj on behalf of his deceased, for example on behalf of his father, then it appeared to him to not perform Hajj. Is it permissible for him to break his promise and seek pardon?
Answer:
There’s no problem, fear Allaah as much as you can, he became incapable, he became sick, it became apparent to him not to do Hajj for this persons relative, for example or for this person, it’s not incumbent on him; but it’s necessary to notify him at a time whereby he can look for another person, he doesn’t make him miss out on Hajj for example or at a time where he thinks he’s going to do it and little does he know that he excused himself at a time that doesn’t suffice to look for someone else to do Hajj on behalf of his brother or relative whom he wants him to do Hajj for. So it necessary for him to notify him before that, Na’am.
