Having iron plated decorations on the thawb
Question:
Is putting iron on a thawb considered adornment?
Answer:
Oh my children don’t wear these thawbs which have decorations which are like that of the girls and these things, keep your thawb plain, if you want, white, or any colour from the legislated colours, and white is better
إلبسوا من ثيابكم البياض؛ فإنها من خير ثيابكم، وكفنوا فيها موتاكم
“Wear from your clothes the white, for it is the best of your clothes, and bury your dead in them.”
But that you become accustomed to putting coloured patterns here and there and things, these things they say it’s for the youth, and you are students of knowledge, you’re required to be brought up above all of that, these are things the people of style use, you’re not pleased to have a circle line on your head alhamdulillaah, the students of knowledge see this to be the most ugliest of forms possible, those haircuts, those styles, those lines here and there, it leaves one resembling the girls, and the clothes of girls.
Turn away from this you’re not in need of it, the plain thawb, the plain jubbah, even if it’s stitched with lines but with a plain colour is better, and there is an abundance of good in the students of knowledge, and abundance of benefit is with them.
And if you were to see the other Masjids praying, you’re praying and behind him is a picture of a lion on his back, and that one a logo of a such and such company.
You’re praying and the one in front of you, his clothes are that of a company logo, such and such company, and like so their fronts are logos their backs are logos.
So the companies took some of their employees as billboards for advertisement, their fronts and backs, and also what’s on their heads and what is of that as billboards, advertisement.
You’re not in need of this, you’re not an advertisement. If the company gave you something like a board to hold for advertisement you won’t be pleased, it’s not a must that you belittle yourself for example or do things that defame yourself in your dressing and what busies those praying behind you and what is the likes of that for the sake of the dunyaa.
Find a different job, for in some companies they make a condition for the taxi driver that he must wear clothes of this type, he has to be presented in this attire, and he must wear a shirt, they busy you until they make you sinful, upon such and such style, find another job, Allah didn’t restrict you,
اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَجْمِلُوا فِي الطَّلَبِ
“Fear Allah and seek provisions in a beautiful (halaal) manner.”
Don’t submit to humiliation, Oh my son don’t submit to humiliation for the sake of dunyaa, you’re humiliated for the dunyaa, don’t be humiliated by the dunyaa, live upon honour, the honour of obedience to Allah, and Allah will grant you honour, live upon the obedience of Allah and Allah will aid you and you will see good, because this is the affair of the believer,
(وَلِلَّهِ ٱلْعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ)
“But honour, power and glory belong to Allah, His Messenger , and to the believers.” [Al-Munafiqun: 8]
So he has more right to be honoured.
