An invalid or missed prayer must be prayed even after its time has passed
Question:
After I prayed fajr, I found semen on my pants when I went to make wudhu after sunrise. Do I have to repeat the prayer, bearing in mind its time has now passed?
Answer:
If you slept after the fajr prayer, it is possible that it came about from this sleep. If it did; there is nothing upon you and your fajr prayer is valid.
This is if you slept and subsequently found this trace of semen on your pants; because it is possible that you remembered something in your sleep which caused this semen to exit.
If this did not occur, and you have a greater inclination that it is from before, not after the fajr prayer; then you must perform ‘ghusl’ and pray, even if the time has passed.
مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلاَةً أَوْ نَامَ عَنْهَا فَكَفَّارَتُهَا أَنْ يُصَلِّيَهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا
Whoever forgets a prayer or sleeps beyond its time; the expiation is for him to pray it when he remembers it.
[Narrated by Anas ibn Malik رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْه in Muslim]
The one who overlooks a condition of the prayer or anything the prayer is invalid without is like the one who has overlooked the prayer itself.
Thus, it is upon you to pray. Perform ghusl and pray because you have forgotten a condition of the prayer and something the prayer is invalid without.
In this case, the ruling is the same as he who has forgotten the prayer itself; because the prayer is not valid without it, it is as if you have not prayed. In this case, there is no doubt you have not prayed (a valid prayer).
