Warning from reading knowledge-based refutations

Question:

Some people warn from reading refutations, they use as a proof that fitnah is to be avoided and not to be delved into.

What are you directions regarding this, may Allah grant you success.

Answer:

This is not a new behaviour, whenever the experts of Ahlussunnah confront trials and newly introduced affairs by knowledge-based refutations, which uncover and manifest hidden innovations, we with much regret find those who discourage the students of knowledge from reading Manhaji (Methodology-based) refutations by using lack of getting involved in fitnah, and lack of busying oneself with other than seeking knowledge, as a proof.

The sour end result then becomes that you find those individuals who were abstinent (from refutations), and had a cautionary fear from falling into what might bring harm in the Hereafter (which kept them away from reading refutations), but it’s a false sense of cautionary fear, flailing around in confusion until their end becomes falling off, except if Allah willed other wise.

So it’s not permissible to sideline the writings which dismantle falsehood by those who are trusted in their religion and knowledge, and it’s a must that careful consideration is given to it and that it’s benefited from.

This is part of seeking knowledge and understanding in the religion.

And Allah is the guide to the right path.
