Zakat on investment which gave no profit for a year

Question 441

A person have invested his money in a business and a year have passed and he didn’t get any profit on it. Is there zakat on this investment ? And is the zakat on capital money or on profit ?

Answer :

The zakat to be paid on capital money if it have reached the nisab and a year have passed on it and also on the profit. And zakat will be on invested money (irrespective of) whether the profit is earned on it or not.
