How does the menstruating woman make the most of the last ten nights [of Ramadhān]?
Question:
How does the menstruating woman make the most of the last ten nights [of Ramadhān]?
Answer:
She makes the most of them by making a lot of du’ā. She may also recite Qurān if she wishes as there is nothing to stop a menstruating woman from reciting the Qurān according to the correct [scholarly view]
“إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ لَا يَنْجُسُ”
“Indeed the believer does not become impure”.(1).
If it is [recited] from memory the opposition to it is weak, for indeed even some of those who say it is imperssible say it is only imperssible whilst holding a copy of the Qurān.
Even if it is [recited] from a copy of the Qurān there is also nothing wrong with that according to the correct [scholarly view]:
“افْعَلِي مَا يَفْعَلُ الْحَاجُّ، غَيْرَ أنْ لَا تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ“
Do what the ‘hāj’ (pilgram) does except tawāf around the house (i.e. Ka’bah) (2)
As for the prayer; it is not permissible for the menstruating woman to pray, so she should be busy with du’ā, reciting the Qurān and the remembrance of Allāh during these nights.
