Performing Hajj on behalf of someone else if one hasn’t performed for himself
Question:
Perfoming Hajj on behalf of someone else for one who hasn’t done Hajj for himself?
Answer:
The majority are upon that it’s not accepted for that person and it becomes his Hajj, and this opinion is far off, that it becomes his while the wealth belongs to other than him.
And what is closest to the correct opinion is that it is accepted for the other person even if he hasn’t done Hajj for himself before, for verily this is a command which necessitates obligation, it doesn’t necessitate it being a condition, from His statement:
حج عن نفسك ثم حج عن شبرمة
“Perform Hajj for yourself, then for Shubrumah.”
It necessitates obligation (of performing Hajj), it doesn’t necessitate that it’s from the condition of correctness of Hajj that you have done Hajj for yourself.
This is the correct opinion.
That even he’s incapable of doing Hajj, and he did Hajj for someone else before he did Hajj for himself, then indeed his Hajj on behalf of someone else is accepted, and whenever Allaah makes it easy for him to do Hajj for himself (he does it), and that the Hadith:
حج عن نفسك ثم حج عن شبرمة
“Perform Hajj for yourself, then for Shubrumah.”
Doesn’t necessitate the invalidity of his Hajj on behalf of someone else while being incapable of doing Hajj for himself. Verily its a command to give precedence to himself over others at the time of capability.
