Catching the Rukoo’ – Is the rak’ah counted?
Benefit:
▪️ He ﷺ said to Abi Bakrah may Allaah be pleased with him when he performed rukoo’ before reaching the row:
زادك الله حرصا ولا تعد
“May Allaah increase in eagerness, don’t repeat it.”
▪️ The majority say if the one praying enters while the Imaam is in rukoo’ the rak’ah counts; but the correct opinion is opposite to that; that the one following if he enters while the Imaam is in rukoo’ the rak’ah is not counted because he’s missed to fundamental pillars and they are:
Standing and Reciting Al-Faatihah.
▪️ The Hadith
لا صلاة لمن لم يقرأ بفاتحة الكتاب
“There’s no Salaah for the one who doesn’t recite Al-Faatihah”
This is negation of correctness not completeness.
▪️ The Hadith
إذا أدركتمونا ونحن سجود فأعيدوا ركعة، وإذا أدركتومونا ونحن ركوع فأتموا ركعة
“If you catch us while we are prostrating then repeat the rak’ah, and if you catch us while we’re in rukoo’ then complete the rak’ah”
or as he said ﷺ, this is not authentic from him ﷺ.
▪️ The people of knowledge said in this issue: That its authentic is not explicit and it’s the Hadith of Abi Bakrah may Allaah be pleased with him, and its explicit is not authentic and its the Hadith which we mentioned in what passed.
