Tawhīdl [Mursil – the sender] and Tawhīdl [Mursal – the one sent]

Question:

We seek clarification on what Tawhīdl Mursil and Tawhīdl Mursal is and the difference between them.

May Allah bless you.

Answer:

That which is apparent in this is, that it’s what’s known as Tawhīdl Mutāb’iah and Tawhīdl Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.

So Tawhīdl Mursil; the Mursil is Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.
So His Tawhīd, i.e the Tawhīd of Allah, is upon three categories:

1. Tawhīdl Rububiyyah (singling out Allah alone in Lordship)
2. Tawhīdl Uluwhiyyah (singling out Allah alone in Worship)
3. Tawhīdl Asmā was-Sifāt (singling out Allah alone in His Names and Attributes)

Tawhīdl Mursal is the singling out of the Messenger ﷺ in following, to be followed, to be believed in what he informed, obeyed in what he ordered, to avoid whatever he prohibited and rebuked, and not to worship Allah except by way of what he legislated, this is called Tawhīdl Mutāb’iah.

If you are asked what are the categories of Tawhīd, you can say:

The categories of Tawhīd are two; Tawhīdl Allah and Tawhīdl Mutāb’iah.

As for Tawhīdl Allah is of three categories:

1. Tawhīdl Rububiyyah
2. Tawhīdl Uluwhiyyah
3. Tawhīdl Asmā was-Sifāt

As for the Tawhīd of the Prophet ﷺ, it’s the singling him out alone in following.
Then you mention what has preceded.

It’s a mistake to say:

Tawhīdl Allah is upon two categories; Tawhīdl Rububiyyah, Uluwhiyyah, Asmā was-Sifāt. And Tawhīdl Mutāb’iah.

This is a mistake.

If you say Tawhīdl Allah it’s a must to restrict it to three categories of Tawhīd.

But if you mentioned it without specification and said the categories of Tawhīd, then you can say they are of two categories,
1.Tawhīdl Allah and
2.Tawhīdl Mutāb’iah.

Then you say the Tawhīdl of Allah is of three categories and then you mention them.

And the Tawhīd of the Prophet ﷺ is the singling him out in following (Mutāb’iah).

So what’s intended with al-Mursil is Allah because He is the one who send His Messenger ﷺ

(هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلْحَقِّ)

“It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam)”
[At-Tawba:33]

And Tawhīdl al-Mursal i.e Tawhīdl Mutāb’iah.
