Ruling of washing dead body when there is harm in washing
Question :
What to do if there is harm in washing the dead body because of decease that can spread or like that ?
Answer :
If the harm cannot be removed by wearing protective clothing that covers nose and hands or like that then “Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope” and we can do Tayammum on dead body.
But if there is possibility of taking protective measures and disinfecting the dead body then washing is wajib, because of saying of Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam for his daughter Zainab, wash her three times or five times or seven times.
And because of saying of Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam for the person who killed (or something like that, shaykh’s word is not clear) by the camel, wash him with water and Sidr.
So Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam ordered to wash the dead body.
But if there is harm may to the person who is washing or the dead body like the dead body get opened up and broken into pieces or may flow lot of blood or flesh or like that it this situation Tayammum can be done and also if the person who is washing get harm like passing of the decease who is confirmed by doctors then this situation also Tayammum can be done on dead body.
