Where does the wife stand with her husband in prayer?

Question:

If a man was to pray a congregational prayer with his wife, is she to stand in front of him or behind him?

Benefit us may Allah bless you.

Answer:

If a man had an excuse from not attending the congregational prayer in the Masjid; then it would be permissible for him to pray with his wife, and she would stand behind him.

And from the proofs which point to this is, what is found in the two “Sahīhs” on the authority of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said:

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with us; so we, me and a orphan lined up behind him, and the elderly lady stood behind us.”
