Beautifying the recitations of the Qur’ān in the midst of giving lectures

Question:

Shaykh Yusuf, may Allah preserve you. What is the ruling on beautifying in regards to the reminders and lectures?

Answer:

Perhaps what is intended is the beautification of the recitation of the Qur’ān in sermons and lectures.

As far as I am aware, there has not been any narration relayed from the Prophet ﷺ nor his companions, may Allah be pleased with them, that they would do this, and seek out it’s implementation.

While it has been relayed that the Prophet ﷺ would better the voice while reciting in the prayer.

❗️And them not doing so, while the capability of doing it being present, acts as a legislative text in its prohibition.

So this points to the difference between the recitation of the Qur’ān and the beautification of it in the prayer and other than it, and between recitation of the Qur’ān as an evidence in sermons, reminders and lectures.

We would hear our Shaykh, The ‘Allāmah Yahya bin ‘Ali Al-Hajoori, may Allah preserve him, rebuke this affair.

And he has some good speech in his book “The rulings of Jumu’ah” in clarification of it being from the affairs which are newly introduced, with good evidences being put forward.

Revise this topic there.

And Bakar Abu Zayd, may Allah have mercy upon him, counted it as being from amongst the newly introduced affairs of this time, in his book “Correcting the Supplication” (p320).

And there is another fatwa in rebuke of it by the ‘Allāmah Al-Fawzān, may Allah preserve him.
