Permissibility of naming a Masjid after a scholar who is still alive

Question:

Is it permissible to name a Misjid after Shaykh Fawzaan  (May Allah preserve him) while the Shaykh  is still alive?

Answer :

Shaykh Abu Amr Al Hajoori (May Allah preserve him) replied, “There is no problem naming a Misjid after a person of Sunnah (even whilst he is still alive).”

The Shaykh (may Allah preserve him) cited as proof for his statement Imam Bukhari’s chapter (in Saheeh Bukhari) titled “A Misjid can be named after a particular tribe or clan” (Hadeeth number 420)
