Fasting on Behalf of a Woman who missed fasts due to menstruation
Question :
“A women menstruated while owing fasts from Ramaḍān, is it permissible for her son, father or walī (guardian according to the sharīʿah) to fast on her behalf while she is on her menses?”
Answer :
“No, this is not correct, it’s not permissible for her walī, her child, her husband or anyone else. This is prescribed only after death. If she passes away then yes, it’s fasted on her behalf that which she left from obligatory fasts, (for example) the fast of Ramaḍān; then (in this case) they may fast on her behalf. As for her being on her menses then it’s not legislated for them to fast on her behalf.
“مَنْ مَاتَ وَعَلَيْهِ صِيَامٌ صَامَ عَنْهُ وَلِيُّهُ “
“Whoever passes away while having missed some obligatory fasts then his Walī should fast on his behalf.”
