Whatever befalls you was never going to miss you, and whatever you missed out on was never going to reach you

Benefit:

From the commentary on the Book of Tawheed by Shaykhul-Islaam Muhammad bin Abdil-Wahhaab may Allaah have mercy on him,132nd Lesson.

Chapter: What has come concerning the one who rejects Qadr.

On the authority of ‘Ubaadah bin Saamit that he said to his son: “O my son, verily you will not find the taste of Eemaan until you know that what has afflicted you was never going to miss you, and what you have missed out on, you were never going to get it. I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying: “Indeed the first thing that Allaah created was the pen, so He said to it write! So it said: “My Lord, what shall I write?” He said: “Write everything that’s going to happen until the establishment of hour.” “O my son, I heard the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ saying: Whoever dies upon other that this then he’s not from me.”

And in another narration by Ahmed: “Indeed the first thing Allaah created was the pen, so He said to it, write! so it wrote in that moment with what will happen until the day of Judgement.”

And in a narration by Ibn Wahb, he said: “The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: “So whoever does not believe in Qadr, the good of it and the bad of it, Allaah will cause him to burn in the Fire.”

And in the Musnad and the Sunan of Ibn Ad-Daylamee, he said: “I came to ‘Ubayy bin Ka’b, so i said I have an issue with Qadr, so he narrated to me something, perhaps Allaah will rid my heart of it. So he said:  “If you were to spend the likes of Uhud in gold, Allaah would not accept it from you until you believe in Qadr, and know that whatever befalls you was never going to miss you, and whatever you missed out on was never going to reach you. And if you died upon other than this, you would be from the people of the fire.” He said: “So I came to Abdullaah bin Mas’ood and Hudhaifah Ibn Al-Yamaan and Zaid bin Thaabit, so all of them narrated to me the likes of that from the Prophet ﷺ.” [Authentic Hadeeth narrated by Al-Haakim in the Saheeh]
