Tafseer of acknowledging the blessing and rejecting it

Benefit:

Chapter of His statement:

(يَعْرِفُونَ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يُنكِرُونَهَا وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ)

“They recognize the favor of Allah; then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers.” [An-Nahl: 83]

Mujaahid said: What is its meaning: Is the statement of a man: “This is my wealth I inherited it from my forefathers,” and ‘Awn bin ‘Abdillaah said: “They say, had it not been for so and so, this wouldn’t be.” And said: and Qutaibah said: “They say this is because of the intercession of our gods.”

And Abul-‘Abbaas – after the Hadeeth Zaid bin Khaalid which has in it: “That Allaah said: “There became a group of slaves, believers in me and disbelievers – the Hadeeth has preceded -: and this is plenty in the Book and the Sunnah, Allaah censors those that ascribe his blessings to other than him and associate partners with him.

Some of the Salaf said: it’s their statement: “The wind was good, and the sailor was skillful”, and the likes of these which are common on the tongues of many.

In it are Masaa’il (topics):

The First: Tafseer of acknowledging the blessing and rejecting it.

The Second: Knowing that this is common on the tongues of many.

The Third: Calling this speech rejecting the blessings.

The Fourth: Combining of two opposites in the heart.
