At-Ta’meen (Saying Aameen) out loud and how to pronounce it
Benefit:
Bukhaari may Allaah have mercy on him said: (Baab: The Ta’meen of the Imaam aloud); Because some of the Fuqahaa (Scholars of Fiqh) perform the Ta’meen in a low voice, and hence don’t see the pronouncing it aloud, they see pronouncing the Ta’meen silently, so Bukhaari refuted them may Allah have mercy on him with these Tabweeb (Chapters), Baab The Ta’meen of the Imaam aloud after Al-Faatihah in a loud prayer, upon those that don’t see the saying of it aloud and those that say Aameen is not said.
▪️ At-Ta’meen (التأمين): Is the Masdar of Am-mana (أمِّن)َ with shaddah, i.e he said Aameen, and it’s with Madd (enlongation) and Takhfeef in all the narrations, and from all reciters Aameen (آمِيْن), and its not (to be pronounced with) shaddah and said Aam-meen (آمِّيْن):
And Al-Waahidee cited from Hamzah and Kasaa’i Al-Imaalah and there are three other irregular pronunciations:
▪️ Al-Qasr (shortening) Ameen (أمين), Tha’lab cited it and brought a line of poetry as a shaahid (proof) and Ibn Durstawayh rejected it (أمين فزاد الله ما بيننا بعدا أمين) and censured the shaahid because it’s for the neccesity of poetry, and ‘Ayyaadh and those who followed him from Tha’lab cited that verily they allowed it for the necessity of poetry specifically.
▪️ And Tashdeed with Madd: Aam-meen (آمِّيْن) and with Qasr, and group from the people of language declared them mistaken.
And Aameen is from the (أسماء الأفعال) Asmaa’ Af’aal like: (صه)for silencing and it’s given fatha when connected by unanimous agreement like: Kayfa (كيف),
And verily it was not given Kasrah due to the heavyness of Kasrah after Yaa’, and its meaning is (اللهم استجب) Allaahumma Istajib (O Allaah accept) with the majority, and other than that was said with all of what returns to this meaning Allaahumma Istajib (اللهم استجب)
▪️ It’s reported from Imaam Maalik that he doesn’t say Aameen aloud in the loud prayers, and in a narration he doesn’t say Aameen at all, and it’s rejected from him because of this baab and the statement of the Prophet ﷺ:
(إذا قال الإمام ولا الضالين فقولوا آمين يجبكم الله)
“If the Imaam says wala Adh-Dhaaleen then say: Aameen, Allaah will answer you.”
▪️ What’s correct is that the one following the Imaam says Aameen after the Imaam, to coincide with the Ta’meen of the Imaam and the Ta’meen of the Angels and it’s more likely to get answered due to coinciding.
▪️ Ibn ‘Umar may Allaah be pleased with them, used to say Aameen after reciting the Al-Faatihah even outside of Salaah.
▪️ The Yahood (Jews) haven’t envied us like they envy us on the Ta’meen.
