If a woman who is keen on praying laylatul qadr yet is on her menses is she still rewarded?
Question:
If laylatul qadr comes by whilst a woman is on her monthly menses, some of these women may feel grief due to their eagerness in praying that night, so is she rewarded?
Answer:
Yes, she is rewarded, especially if she is of this level: eager. And perhaps the grief may overcome her causing her to say: “woe to me if only I had stood in prayer that night”. And then she will be rewarded for it inshaAllah.
And also, she should not be in a state of heedlessness (in this night) she should be one remembering Allah whilst she is in this state (on her menses).
“If a slave falls sick or travels, he is rewarded for what he used to do when he was a resident (not travelling) and in good health.” [Al-bukhaari, Abu moosaa Al-Ash’aree]
So she is included in the ruling of one who is excused and rewarded.
“Verily there are men who have remained behind us in Al-Madinah, and we never cross a valley but they are with us, they have been held back by due to sickness…”
And in another narration: “They share the same reward with us..”
[Al-bukhaari, jaabir]
This is due to them having a valid excuse, so likewise this woman is excused however she should not be heedless (during this night) rather she should be remembering Allah invoking him, and in that state she will be rewarded insha Allah so long as she is in that state, awake and remembering and invoking Allah even if she is one is not excused.”
