The reality of Arab Nationalism

Benefit:

Our Shaykh may Allāh preserve him said: “These Arab Nationalists are ignoramuses – may Allāh rectify them – they praise the Prophet ﷺ from the angle that he is an Arab, and they don’t follow his guidance from the angle that he is a Prophet. So you find them saying the Arab Prophet, the genius and the likes thereof, even if it were to be a Kāfir.

Arab Nationalism, even if it were to be a Kāfir, they would boast about him and be proud of him and praise him. Upon his state of affairs considering he is Arab, and they imitate him in his characteristics and other than that.

من رغب عن سنتي فليس مني

“Whoever turns away from my Sunnah, then he is not from me.”

And others exaggerate concerning him, i.e the Prophet ﷺ. They over praise him, while he prohibited over-praising and extremism, and they put him on the level of a divine being as the Christians did with Uzair and Ēsā ﷺ.

This also occurs with the extreme Sufis, and the extremists from amongst the people, they go to extremes concerning the Prophet ﷺ, that he comes back the night of the Mawlid and is present with them, this is Al-Habīb (the loved one) with his Ahbāb (loved ones), he is present, welcome! to him the grandfather of Al-Hussein, welcome!, and other than that. They welcome him that he came, and other than that from the ignorance which is built upon extremism.

Allāh guided the people of the truth to loving him and exalting him, and they are the most happiest of people with the Prophet ﷺ, in venerating him and revering him and loving him along with following what he came with and his guidance and his Sunnah;

{قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ}

Say: “If you (really) love Allāh then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Qurān and the Sunnah), Allāh will love you.” [Āal-Imrān, 31]

This is proof that you love Allāh and His Messenger ﷺ, and puting him on the level of a human being without extremism or negligence;

{قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ}

Say: “I am only a man like you.” [Al-Kahf, 110]
