Is there anything Allāh doesn’t know?

Answered by our Shaykh, the ‘Allāmah, the Trustworthy Advisor, Abu ‘Abdirrahmān Yahya bin ‘Ali Al-Hajūri – may Allāh preserve him – on the 1st, Muharram, 1442

Question:

Is it said: “Allah does not know to have a partner”?

Answer:

Yes it is said due to the proof,

“Say: “Do you inform Allāh of that which He knows not in the heavens and on the earth?” Glorified and Exalted be He above all that which they associate as partners with Him!” [Yusuf:18]

After He mentioned their partners.

But I have seen a wrongful phrase.

But this answer is correct Allāh does not know of a partner because partner(s) is non existent, a partner to Allāh is not a thing, so He doesn’t know of a partner to Him.

As for if it to be said that:

“Does Allāh not know of something being a partner to Him”, it is said do not say something, if it was something He would of known about it, because Allāh is All-Knowing of everything, but a partner is non existent, is this understood?

Because a question came saying is there anything that Allāh doesn’t know, we said No! There is not a thing that Allāh does not know, there isn’t a thing except that He knows.

(إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ)

“Indeed Allāh is of all things, knowing.” [Mujādilah, 7]

As for a partner then it is not a thing, it is non existent, so it is not said this partner is a thing, it is nothing in reality, non existent, taking the ruling of non existing.
