What is the correct meaning of “ʿAlaqa” as used in the Qurʿān? Some give the meaning as “blood clot” others “something that clings”, etc.
The “ʿAlaqa” they say is (damun jāmid دم جامد); meaning ‘Blood clot’.
Ibn Rajab says:
والعلقة: قطعة من دم
The ʿAlaqah: Lump of blood.
